The Free TiVo (FreeVo!)

21 02 2008

Wow, I’m so sorry it’s taken so long to actually do anything on my site! This week’s news flash is a very cool project I decided to pursue this morning-so here’s the scoop. We’ve had this problem concerning a bunch of TV shows we taped in the states in MPEG1 format just laying around on a computer, with no easy or convenient way to watch them. So this morning when I looked at this old 850MHz computer I had laying around, I thought to myself, “This would make one heck of a media center.” So, having absolutely nothing to do with my day, I set off to work. A Special Announcement

13 02 2008

Yes, I know.  I’m lazy.. I haven’t done updates to the site in a long time.  The current project is the school’s newspaper-ish thing, The Bubble, which will be released tomorrow.  I’ve also got a cool Windoze hack for you soon…stay tuned.  Sorry, school has kept me busy and friends have kept me busier.

A special announcement on behalf of someone who reminded me my site hadn’t been updated.

We’ve hit 500,000 YouTube Views!

25 01 2008

I know this isn’t really relavent to some site updates and that kind of thing (yes I’m still working on the forums and the chat, they’re just taking a dang long time, plus school isn’t making things easier!) but I just decided to randomly check YouTube and check out our channel, and BOOM!  Our videos have hit the 500,000 mark!  SHAZAM!  Just a couple projects I put together a while ago, I’m gonna upload the rest of the vids on this site to youtube soon as well.  If you wanted by chance to check some of them out, simply visit:

Own Your School’s Internet!

5 01 2008

This little tutorial is kind of a fun one, basically it allows you to scare the crud out of people by hacking Google.  Now we’re not really hacking Google, we’re making the appearance that Google has been hacked.  This type of procedure we’re about to undertake is called a man-in-the-middle attack, and really doesn’t take that much time to accomplish.  Pretty fun and makes you look impressive! Want a Super Cool Free Email Account?

27 12 2007

Well, I’m sure all of you have been watching and waiting for a service like this to show up, and now’s your chance to have by far the coolest email address ever! Consider it my Christmas present to anyone who uses this site. Wanna know how it works? First here are the terms:

  1. Don’t abuse it. This means no spam, hatemail, or any other forms of communication that just aren’t very nice. Your account would be deleted without notice. That means you can’t sue me.
  2. The username must be longer than 5 characters and shorter than 20 characters. No profanity, please.

Short terms, eh? Also, nab a cool address. Don’t just be bob@dustinsoftware.com, but something sweet like ceo@dustinsoftware.com or lolcrackers@dustinsoftware.com. It’s not a requirement, just style points. The service is proudly powered by GMail, so it’s the same friendly interface, only cooler. When you register, I’ll send you a temporary username and password which you are required to change when you log in. That way I can’t read your stuff. It’s also pretty secure, too!

The Coolest XP Hack!

2 12 2007

Ok, it’s not much more than a simple application, BUT IT’S DANG COOL! Essentially it’s an ALT+TAB hack just like Vista’s, except designed for XP! It works quite nicely, although I’ve got it set on the default WindowKey+TAB so if I need to switch while running a 3D application, it won’t lock my computer up. Here’s what it looks like:

winflip.jpg

It’s called WinFlip, BTW.

Update: I compiled some of the updated files together so it’s much more stable now, although still beta. To download it, just click wflip0421.zip. And don’t worry, last time I checked it contained no malware. ^^
